Special Announcements: Prescribed Fire Season & North Tahoe Incorporation Meeting

Smoke in the Air? It’s a Good thing!

Prescribed Fire Activity in the Truckee Area

If you notice smoke rising around the Truckee area over the coming months it could be from some carefully managed, planned operations. The Forest Service is beginning prescribed fire operations throughout Truckee. Burn piles will receive ignitions during suitable weather and resource conditions—smoke may be visible in the area. These proactive projects are vital for our forest's long-term health. The goal of this prescribed burn is to decrease the existing fire hazard which will actively reduce the chances of catastrophic wildfires and make our community much safer. Prescribed fire remains an essential tool for reducing hazardous fuels, protecting our community and improving forest health.

Thank you for your understanding and YOUR continued efforts as we work together to keep our community wildfire-resilient!
