Plan Review Submittal Process Effective March 2023.
We have improved our plan submittal & review process. This new process will capture plan review fees upon submittal, so please be prepared to provide your payment information.

Please read the following steps before you get started:

  • All plans and documents must be submitted in PDF format.

  • The plan review fee will be due upon submittal. Please have your CC ready for payment. Additional plan review fees may be incurred based on project complexity after the plan check is complete.

  • Plans are reviewed and processed during normal business hours Monday-Friday. Approximate time for reviewing plans is 7- 14 business days (excluding holidays). 

  • All mitigation fees must be paid prior to permit issuance. Visit our Mitigation page for more information. Please have your permit issuance check list available for upload prior to completing the application

  • Please be patient with the new process as we make edits and revisions based on your feedback. If you choose, you may forward your comments to admin@truckeefire.org.

  • Use our updated Project Application Form, click button below.

Plans and Site plans need to be drawn to scale and to include the following:

  • Property lines and adjacent streets or roads.

  • Total acreage or square footage of the parcel.

  • Footprint/ outline of all structures including garages, shops, barns, etc.

  • Driveway plan view showing width, length, turnarounds, radii.

  • Driveway profile showing the percent grade from the access road to the structure.

  • All floors and rooms shown with total dwelling square footage.

  • Garage, shop or other accessory buildings shown with square footage.


Commercial Projects:

Plans for all buildings, tenant improvements, and commercial hood systems shall be submitted to Truckee Fire Protection District through the Project Application Form for review and approval.

Residential projects (new construction/remodel):

Within the Town of Truckee

Plans shall be submitted to the Town of Truckee Building and Safety Division.

FIRE Sprinkler & FIRE ALARM Plan Submittal:

Commercial Buildings 

All new or modified commercial projects require fire sprinkler and fire alarm plans to be submitted for review and approval.

Plans need to be submitted to the District’s third-party contractor, Engineered Fire Systems, Inc., for review and scheduled inspections.

Within the Town of Truckee fire sprinkler & fire alarm projects must be permitted by the Town of Truckee Building and Safety Division.

New Residential Buildings

Placer County:

Fire sprinkler plans need to be submitted to the District’s third-party contractor, Engineered Fire Systems, Inc., for review and scheduled inspections.  

*Fees for the third-party review will be actual costs plus an 18% administration fee invoiced by Truckee Fire Protection District.
