Truckee Fire Charitable Fund

Truckee Fire Charitable Fund Inc. (TFCF) was born of ideals from generations past; community service, volunteerism, and public safety. We aim to provide opportunities for public education, scholarships and community service. Our goals are achieved through donations of time and money by members of the organization and the public. In addition, our actions are guided by and executed with the principles from where this organization was fostered, the Fire Service.

Truckee Fire Charitable Fund’s roots grow from what was once Truckee Fire Inc., which was founded in the early 1980’s. Its purpose was to generate funds for the department, which was operated largely on a volunteer basis. Today’s organization continues to be operated by the employees of the Truckee Fire Protection District on a voluntary basis. The main purpose of the TFCF is the funding for the Roy Waters Memorial Scholarship.

Truckee Fire Charitable Fund raises most of its money during our Fourth of July Pancake Breakfast. This is made possible through the generous donations from local businesses and our friends, family and employees who donate their time to put on this event. In exchange for their donation of time and effort, TFCF also donates some of the proceeds from our Pancake Breakfast to local sports teams.

Below you can learn about other services the Truckee Fire Charitable Fund provides to the community:

  • Once a year the members of the TFCF cook and serve the patrons of the Truckee Donner Senior Apartment’s Pancake Breakfast, often setting new records for the number of meals served. All proceeds from this event go help cut the costs of meals for the residents of the apartments.
  • Since its establishment in the Truckee region, TFCF provides warm breakfasts for those participating in the Relay For Life Cancer Walk.
  • In order to decrease the cost of public education courses, like American Heart Association CPR, TFCF subsidizes the cost of those courses so that the members of the public can afford to take such an important class. For more information on American Heart Association Heartsaver AED and Healthcare Provider CPR courses, such as costs, dates and how to enroll, see our Community CPR Program page.
  • In collaboration with Truckee Fire Protection District, TFCF has purchased three AEDs, one of which is located at Truckee High School and the other two are available for use by the members of the community to use at their events. For more information, see our Community Defibrillator Program page.
